1. Use Natural Light
The best type is light coming through a window. You’re looking for soft light, so avoid direct light and flash because it can create harsh contrasts.

2. Get Down Low
Get down on the floor or bed where your baby is laying. This will help you get up close to your baby and capture unique angles.
3. Make the Baby Comfy
Take your time. Have blankets and pillows on hand. When the baby is relaxed you can capture some beautiful natural moments.
4. Use Different Outfits
Create a variety of photos using different outfits. Plus, if they are already dressed up for a special event, it is a great time to sneak in a few creative photos! In this photo, Krome customer, Ashley, dressed up her daughter in a bright tutu!
5. Support the Baby with a Hand
You’ve seen this type of shot everywhere – and they are all retouched! Get someone to help support the baby’s and then your Krome pro can help you remove the hand later.
Pro Tip: Remember to support from behind and do not block key areas of the baby’s face, because it will be more difficult to create a realistic looking photo.

6. Zoom In

7. Photograph During Nap Time
Capture a peaceful looking photo when they are sleeping. It will allow you to take your time and experiment with different angles and lighting. Here’s an example of a naptime photo submitted by Krome customer, Tracy.
8. Play with Them
As an alternative to nap time photos, make funny faces and noises to bring out their funny faces! In this example, Krome customer, Amy, gave her son a little tickle and snapped a photo of him laughing.
9. Try Different Angles
Remember the rule of thirds! Photos often look better when the subject is not dead center. Play with different angles and composition.

10. Fix Up the Details
Minor touch ups will make a huge difference to make your photo look amazing! Take a look at this example where a simple backdrop was improved through retouching. (Plus this photo also had a hand supporting the baby’s head in the original)
