Krome Photos Expands Executive Team to Advance Photo-Tech Design Marketplace

PALO ALTO, Calif., July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ – Krome Photos, a global photo service that is disrupting the marketplace by offering fast and affordable image editing and creative design services for businesses and consumers, has expanded its executive team with the appointment of Dennis Chen and Lincoln Lydick to serve as COO and VP of Engineering, respectively. Chen’s and Lydick’s extensive experience, most recently at mobile engagement platform provider FunMobility, will help Krome continually enhance its offerings, forge strategic partnerships extending the service’s reach, and accelerate growth that nearly tripled the company’s customer base to over 150,000 active users in the last year.

That increasing market traction reflects Krome’s unique ability to edit and embellish photos within hours for less than $12 for orders placed by phone or web. The company’s professional designers can correct color, swap heads, change backgrounds, merge multiple images, remove or add items, incorporate ideas from Krome’s Design Lookbooks, and fulfill custom requests, turning run-of-the-mill snapshots into high-quality creative images that are fun as well as imaginative. The final products can be posted, printed, shared, and used for business purposes ranging from advertising and marketing to social campaigns.

That industry-first business model and strong growth opportunity attracted both Chen and Lydick to the company, where they bring deep experience in gaming, graphics, business development and working with large global development teams.

Chen was founding CTO at FunMobility, where he built an engineering organization that syndicated content to major mobile carriers around the world. He previously held the same position at Specular International, maker of award-winning 3D and 2D computer graphics software. As Krome COO, he is responsible for business development, vertical integration with partners, and optimization of company operations.

Lydick served as VP of Advanced Technology and Engineering at FunMobility, where he helped design and build their mobile, web and backend applications and tools. His background also includes engineering of multiple 3D and 2D graphics, modeling, rendering and animation applications at MetaCreations and Specular International. As VP of Engineering at Krome, he heads app development and user interface design.

“Today, with the ubiquity of camera phones and online communication, everyone is a photographer and consumer of digital media. These factors produce an avalanche of photos that need to be edited and creatively manipulated for both personal and business use, whether for social media and digital marketing initiatives or traditional photo needs,” Chen said. “As the first service to meet that demand quickly, economically and with a rapidly expanding portfolio of creative design options, Krome is in a fresh market space with nearly unlimited growth potential, and that’s why I’m here.”

“Krome takes photo manipulation far beyond do-it-yourself filters without requiring users to know how to use tools like PhotoShop, buy clip art or hire professional photographers to get the perfect image,” Lydick added. “Joining the company not only allows me to build on that vision by expanding and optimizing the platform, but also help give millions of people a new way to express themselves with just a few taps. Today more than ever, a picture is worth a thousand words, and Krome maximizes the impact of every image it touches.”

The expansion of Krome’s senior leadership team follows a $2.3 million seed funding round that was announced earlier this month. The round was led by Evolution Corporate Advisors with participation by River Park Ventures, Sand Hill Angels and other existing investors.
